PS3 Peripherals Priced for Japan

A spare wireless controller, named the Sixaxis controller, will go on sale along side the console November 11 at a cost of 5,000 yen (about $42) each. According to Sony, it will have a 30-hour battery life. A memory card adapter, for reading PlayStation and PlayStation 2 memory cards, will also be released on launch day for 1,500 yen (around $12). Sony drops $30,000,000 on Kiosks

According to Bloomberg, Jack Tretton, of SCEA, said that 15,000 PlayStation 3 demo kiosks will be deployed to American and Canadian retailers this holiday season. Tretton had this to say: “Once the consumers get their hands on a PS3 and understand what’s under the hood, I think price will not be a factor in the decision-making process.” This deployment will cost Sony $30 million to complete. PS3 games will cost the other arm…

While Microsoft is only charging $49.99 for it’s first party titles for the Xbox 360, 3rd party releases will cost either your left arm, or your right @ $59.99. Sony isn’t following in the footsteps of it’s main competition, and will be taking the other arm with it’s $59.99 first party price tag. You can check these pre-orders at Sony Style. PS3 price won’t be falling for US but HDMI is included

We earlier reported that the lower end PS3 was getting a price cut in Japan, and the rumors were abundant whether the US would be getting the same break before launch. It’s been confirmed now with SCEA president Kaz Hirai stating that there will not be a price drop for the North American price point for the PS3 launch. HDMI on the low-end PS3

Sony has announced that it will add HDMI to the low-end model of the Blu-ray equipped Playstation 3. Well, at least in Japan. The US site for Playstation 3 still listed HDMI as feature only found on the high-end model that will set you back $599. Sony responds to PS3 shortages

IGN has posted an interview with Dave Karraker, the Senior Director of Corporate Communications at Sony Computer Entertainment America, in direct response of the recently announced PS3 delays in the PAL territories. Sony has announced that it’s forecast of 4 million PS3 units for a worldwide release has been changed. Apparently they are having difficulty with the production of the blue laser diode that’s crucial for the Blu-Ray developement. Blazing Angels on Wii & PS3

Ubisoft’s previously Xbox/Xbox 360 exclusive WW2 acrade flight simulator, Blazing Angels, is now set to be released on both the Nintendo Wii and Sony’s Playstation 3 platforms on each console’s launch date. The Playstation 3 version is set to feature some new missions and is promised to make good use of the tilt function in the PS3 controller. Next-Gen Alone in the Dark Delayed

The next-gen remake of Alone in the Dark developed by Atari was slated for a April 2007 to possibly March 2008 release however in lite of Atari’s fiscal 2007 first quater results, which were not good, the game is being put on hold and slated for a possible release in fiscal 2008.  Read More →
