So does it live up to all the hype and it’s own legacy?

So in short, No. It’s been nerfed. And nerfed hard, to the point of making bad kids good. It looks like its “funner” than the more competitive DS Mario Kart. There is still plenty of fun to be had on that game btw, just head over to gamebattles
