Nintendo has consistently reminded the general public that the Nintendo Wii would cost less than all other next generation consoles. However, it was unclear exactly how much the Nintendo Wii would cost. Most people thought the cost would be around $250 although nothing has still been officially announced by Nintendo.

However, the Japanese version of Engadget is reporting that the price of the Wii could be as low as $171 and this has got the gaming world buzzing? Is this report true, is the source credible?
