XBOX 360 may be dropping in price very soon to help counter the release of the very expensive Playstation 3. Multiple sources are confirming that Microsoft may reduce the price of the XBOX 360 $100 in the time near the release of the Playstation 3 to win a price war between the two gaming consoles. The PS3 has been much criticized for its high price and Microsoft may consider dropping XBOX 360 prices so that those who were waiting for the PS3, would opt to purchase the XBOX 360 based on price alone.

New, cheaper, and more effective development processes will also have to do with the decrease in price so Microsoft can increases its sales without cutting back on profit margins.

If Microsoft does indeed decide to cut prices, this will be a serious problem for Sony and the new Playstation 3. Its $600 price tag has already drawn away many potential buyers and those who are still considering purchasing this console may change their minds due to the large price difference between the PS3 and the 360. We will have to see what happens in the series of events leading up to the release of the Playstation 3 and Wii this fall.
