$2 Million Worth of DS Lites Stolen

Nintendo has just confirmed the rumors that a large number of new handheld DS Lite video game consoled scheduled for sale in the United Kingdom were stolen en route in Asia.

“A number of white DS Lites made for the UK market were stolen in Hong Kong,” a Nintendo representative said. “Nintendo is making every effort to ensure that there is enough product available in the UK to meet market demand at launch.”

Its is not clear, exactly how much these thieves took, but it is expected to be near $2 million worth of consoles. This theft will not disrupt the launch of the console in other international markets.

The console has done very well on the marketplace and has sold over 125,000 copies of the console in its first two days in the US. Gaming and electronic stores are constantly restocking their shelves with this new system and games.
