The new third generation gaming console are quite pricey; however, Nintendo just announced that there newest console, the Nintendo Wii which is expected to be released on the market later this year, will be the cheaper than the XBOX 360 and the Playstation 3, retailing at under $250, although an official price was not announced. The move may be a smart one for Nintendo, as many people will opt for the Wii, as the Playstation 3 is expected to sell for just under $600, while the XBOX 360 is currently selling for $399.99. Nintendo has not experienced the same financial success as Sony and Microsoft have with their systems, but expect a 18% increase in profits with the release of the Nintendo Wii and sales from the Nintendo DS Lite, the newest portable Nintendo gaming system which is set to release here in the United States on June 11th. We will have to wait and see what price Nintendo officially sells the Wii at and how it affects their sales and profits in the coming months and years.
